HVEMS (High Volume E-Machines Manufacturing Supply) is led by Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and involves a number of partners including Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), Tata Steel, Grainger & Worrall, Midland Tool Design, Motor Design Ltd, Horizon Instruments, Newcastle University and HSSMI.
This £11 million APC funded project, aims to create an experimental “Make-Like-Production” facility in which JLR and supply chain partners will investigate manufacturing and assembly methods for automotive electric traction motors.
The project will develop the facility to prove production feasibility for automotive traction electric machines at a takt time corresponding to high volume production of e-machines. The partnership will be able to understand the key attributes of the new manufacturing processes required to make the machines in high volumes and to understand the trade-offs between product performance and manufacturing cost and time.
