Project Overview
The VENUS project received funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration. The project developed a novel electric drive system for a pure electric vehicle:
- Free of rare-earth magnets,
- That meets EV performance requirements (efficiency, power density)
- Feasible for mass-production.
In 2016, VENUS completed the development of an axial-flux variable-reluctance machine, an advanced power electronics & inverter solution and integrated the technology on a commercial vehicle.
